Board Member: Michael Fragale

Michael Fragale is a senior executive with extensive experience designing, funding, and scaling high impact initiatives at the intersection of education, media, and strategic philanthropy. Most recently, he served as Vice President and General Manager for Education Strategy and Content at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), where he led national efforts to strengthen public media’s role as a trusted source of high-quality educational resources.

At CPB, Michael oversaw more than $11 million in annual investments and directed major federal initiatives, including three successive five-year Ready to Learn grants totaling more than $275 million from the U.S. Department of Education. The content and resources developed from these efforts resulted in measurable literacy gains for underserved children. In addition to early learning, his portfolio included projects focusing on media literacy, STEM education, dropout prevention, and career pathways. He also helped provide seed funding for experimentation and innovation with emerging technologies. That support led to the development and launch of the PBS KIDS Video and Games App and PBSLearningMedia.org among other platforms.

Prior to CPB, Michael held leadership roles at PBS and SAS Institute, and began his career as a news writer and associate producer at WHYY-FM in Philadelphia. He is passionate about leveraging media and technology to expand equitable access to learning opportunities
nationwide.
