Classroom Contexts: Teachers Talk Teaching Media Literacy

Illinois’ 2021 media literacy mandate created new opportunities—and challenges—for educators across the state. This presentation shares findings from interviews with 20 teachers, revealing how gaps in media experiences, socioeconomic context, and political climates shape what media literacy looks like in different classrooms.
