Katie Ma is a senior at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Katie is a youth leader passionate about media literacy, youth voice, and civic engagement! As a member of the NAMLE Youth Council, she is committed to helping young people navigate misinformation, critically evaluate media, and understand how storytelling as well as digital platforms shape public discourse. Katie brings this perspective to her work as Editor-in-Chief of Untitled, her school newspaper, where she leads coverage and opinion writing for a community of readers, and as President of the Fort Wayne Mayor’s Youth Engagement Council, where she amplifies youth perspectives on issues like mental health and representation. She is also a TeenSpeak presenter whose work has reached over 10,000 students. Katie believes media literacy is a form of empowerment, one that allows young people to question narratives, advocate for themselves, and participate meaningfully in democracy.
