What do you do?

I am the Social Media Intern for Spring 2024. I will be assisting in the expansion of NAMLE social media platforms. I will cover various significant topics regarding media literacy on NAMLE’s social media platforms to enhance media literacy in a very active media landscape.

What is your latest work or project in media literacy?

This month, I am starting my internship with NAMLE for my final Undergraduate semester at WSU. I am enthusiastic about immersing myself in media literacy education, aligning with my academic focus on English Education at Washington State University. My role includes facilitating the growth of NAMLE social media channels.

Why is media literacy important to you?

Media literacy is incredibly relevant for all generations. With technology and AI being advanced at such rapid rates it is important to be able to navigate the current media landscape. Misinformation is very easy to fall for and media consumption can be very abrasive without knowing how to be mindful about it.

What are you most excited about in the media literacy field?

I am passionate about creating accessibility to the skills necessary to the mindful consumption of information. I believe that with an overwhelming amount of information at our disposal it is crucial to put the strongest, most honest, information at the forefront.

Why did you become a NAMLE member, what benefits do you see to membership, and how will it support your work?

My time working with NAMLE will help prepare me for the workforce outside of a university setting as well as provide me with crucial networking opportunities post graduation.
