Mireya Marsh is a junior at Florida Atlantic University studying Communications with a minor in Public Relations. She was born and raised in Fishers, Indiana but then relocated to Winter Park, Florida before her Freshman year of high school. I enjoy all things writing, philanthropy, and media. In her first few years here at FAU she and the AXID philanthropy team raised over $50,000 for our national and local charities. She has studied the inequality in media journalism and written research topics on gender bias and political correctness/bias within digital media and journalism. She has also organized and planned multiple charity and formal events for outside donors and people within the FAU community that each hosted 150+ people. For post grad, she hopes to enter the realm of politics and start working on media campaigns and creating unbiased journalism to help diffuse the misinformation and false news that encompasses our country today. She has always felt a passion for media literacy, as she feels it is important that each person understand the context behind what they read online and have the ability to utilize the proper skills in order to do so. She hopes to be able to use her creativity and personable talents to inspire a new audience to educate themselves on all aspects of what media literacy entails.
